Welcome to ICAHD's Discussion

The ICAHD blog has been a long time coming. Resistance and opposition to house demolitions is ICAHD’s core mission. Over the years we have developed strategies to confront the Israeli Government with its policies of dispossession and ethnic cleansing in the Occupied Territories and increasingly inside Israel. As ICAHD’s work has developed, thousands of supporters from around the world have helped us get the word out about Israel’s continuing house demolitions and other human rights violations. Many of you support us financially for which we are deeply grateful. Without your support our work would not be possible. So now we invite you to engage in conversation with each other. Posts on this blog will be designed to stimulate discussion and debate, and perhaps together we can formulate some new ideas and strategies to end the Occupation.

I've lived in Israel for many years now. I'm originally from USA. The situation with the Palestinians reminds me of our past with the American Indians in the USA. We labeled them as savages, thus relinquishing our obligation to treat them fairly and with due human rights. I hope Israel does not pursue this systematic policy of ethnic cleansing and violence. I feel it is up to the greater power to lead, and never to commit human rights violations.

Well done and congratulations for launching the blog. I am a doctor from Britain and I spent two weeks in Jerusalem and the West Bank recently. I also had the good fortune to go on an ICAHD tour. Your work is marvellous. What I saw there horrified me- some of it, such as Palestinians having to pay the Israeli government for the cost of the house demolition- was so unreal that it had an Alice in Wonderland feel to it.

Without justice for the Palestinians, peace in the region will remain a distant dream. We are perched on the edge of a huge conflagration- the sooner the West and Israel realize this, the better for them.

Thank you for setting up both the web page and the blog. Here in the U.S., we hear almost nothing of the abuse of Palestinians by the Israeli government, nor of their second-class legal status. I will be forwarding your press release to our local papers.

Because of this news "gray-out" in the U.S., it can be hard to find organizations here that work toward Israel/Palestine peace. Any recommendations along this line posted on the blog would be much appreciated.

Have you also come across FoSNA - Friends of Sabeel North America, daughter organisation of Sabeel Ecumenical Liberation Theology Centre in Palestine (www.sabeeel.org)? #

Are you near Boston? There's an excellent conference coming up, 26-27th Oct, in Boston. Keynote speaker is Archbishop Desmond Tutu. Lots of excellent speakers like Noam Chomsky and ICAHD's founder and co-ordinator, Jeff Halper.
